A few weeks ago, my husband and I went on a little city adventure. While we were there, this book caught my eye.
Reyna Sinaga attends Cresswell University and loves making unique horror movies that are inspired by a particular serial killer. Professor Maddox Shaw is a well-known artist who's lost his artistic spark. When they cross paths, the attraction is instant, but danger lurks in the shadows...
Intriguing. Dangerous. Spicy. Deadly.
What a great book! The cover might be what initially grabbed my attention, but it's the characters that kept me glued to the pages.
The story is told in the alternating POVs of Reyna and Maddox as their connection deepens, their mutual lust heats up, and the danger intensifies from just about every angle.
Reyna is such a tortured soul. A young woman who lost her mother, barely knows her father, and is determined to unravel the mystery of his death while attending Cresswell University. But when she crosses paths with the alluring Maddox Shaw, she finds herself captivated by her professor. Maddox might be older than Reyna, but he's just as tortured. His family obligations restrict his ability to enjoy his life and he has homicidal tendencies.
Together, their connection sizzles as much as Reyna's fiery determination. She cracked me up and I really like how she's tough but also very vulnerable. And she comes up with some hilarious one-liners, too.
Add a secret society, despicable rich people pulling the strings, a little murder, a lot of family secrets, a woman obsessed with the imagery of death, and it's the perfect recipe for an awesome read. A dark story, but one I thoroughly enjoyed.
