In New Orleans, a pair of undead serial killers is about to turn Mardi Gras into a horror show - unless the immortal hitman Bones can hunt them down first. From Jeaniene Frost comes a thrilling novella featuring characters from her New York Times bestselling Night Huntress series.
Originally appeared in the anthology Unbound.
This is a prequel novella for the Night Huntress series, and features Bones. It takes place in New Orleans during Mardi Gras. It's also set before Bones meets Cat.
Innocent people are dying and Bones has been hired to find the monsters responsible. While he's trying to figure it all out, he also finds himself trying to fight several attempts on his life, and realises the person who hired him isn't exactly telling the truth. But when the monsters set their sights on someone close to Bones, it becomes a violent race against the clock.
I really enjoyed this novella, and liked reading a story from the POV of the very mysterious Bones. At its core, it's a great urban fantasy story with a dark and sad ending.
