THE BECOMING

Anna Strong is trained for anything-until she's attacked one night, only to awaken in a dark world that exists between the living and the dead. Here, Anna struggles with her love for the two men who inhabit the realms of each: Max, a human DEA agent, and Avery, a Night Watcher who joins Anna in pursuit of the vampire who changed her life.

Now, as her two worlds collide, fate plunges Anna into the ultimate battle between good and evil where survival is not just for the living.

WOW! I was very impressed with this book! Honestly, I loved it!

This is another vampire novel, and I know that most people think vampires are overdone and that the market's saturated with them... but I'm definitely NOT one of those people. I love vampire stories, and hope there are always a great selection of them on the market. :)

Anna Strong is a pretty kick-butt type of chick, even after she goes through a life-changing experience. There was a terrific twist in the end that I thought gave the story that extra special little something. The characters were very real and I'm really looking forward to reading about what else lies in her future. In fact, the second book in this series is waiting for me at the bookstore already...

I loved that the action kept coming so quick too, it was a pretty intense read and I really didn't want to put it down. Some very interesting characters were also introduced in this first book, and I can't wait to see what happens when a certain someone calls in that certain favour Anna promised him. ;)

Some good stuff & some sad stuff

This is another gorgeous pic I found at Glitter Graphics. It was made by lunargoddess. She's got some lovely faerie stuff.

Last night I was cruising the site looking for faerie pics. I'm trying to find inspirational pics for the next two faeries I want to write stories about. They'll both be set in Breena and Sydney. I'm very excited about changing the POV, too.

I did find a bunch of lovely pics. I just need to go through them, to see if any capture the two fae.

Last night while the hubby was online, he found out that Chris Benoit and his family were found dead inside their home. Eddie Guerrero passed away almost two years ago now, and I was shocked to hear about Benoit. Chris Benoit was one of the better wrestlers. I enjoyed watching him in WCW and even in WWE, but now he's gone. He didn't die of natural causes, though they were still suspicious. It's been ruled a murder-suicide, and gives me goosebumps every time I think about it. If you'd like to find out a little more, check it out here. It's awful, awful news.

I used to be a huge wrestling fan. We even went to an event when I was six months pregnant. But for a long while now, I've had no real interest in it. I catch a few snippets here and there, watch some of the DVDs that are released. But for the most part, I just don't agree with the direction it's taking. I'll always have fond memories of it from when I was a kid, though. And also great memories of the hubby and I enjoying WCW on Saturday nights. There's still a lot of talent out there too, I especially like RVD and John Cena, but can't watch the entire show without cringing. Still, it's always very sad to hear about one of them passing away. :(

Onto more exciting things. I got the second draft of my SciFi story done yesterday afternoon. Yay! The only problem is that while I was walking to pick my daughter up, something hit me. A new thread that wants to be weaved into the plot! Now, unfortunately this will mean more work on the tale... but I believe that it will strengthen the story in general. So, it looks like when I tackle the third draft, there'll be a little more work than I first expected. Oh, and the title popped into my head while I was doing the dishes. Can you believe that? Lol.

FAERIE #3 has left the building. Or at least, it's been emailed in. Heeeee. Heeeee. Wish me luck. :)

The teacher interview went great yesterday, too. Apparently, as I suspected, my daughter's a little angel when she's at school. I even found out she's quite the organiser while she's there and always cleans up after herself. Hmmm. That's strange, because at home I usually have to nag her to do those things. Still, she's developing very well and I'm very proud of her reading. I think it's very important that she reads a lot. I just wish some of that lovely behaviour spilled out no matter where she is. :/

UNTOUCHED

She's lost her touch. . .
Superheroine Risa Remington once had the power to read thoughts and emotions with a stroke of her fingertips. Until a lab accident changed everything. Now Risa has to learn to live in the real world—virgin territory for a girl who’s never experienced life, love, or sex.

UNTOUCHED is actually the first Blaze book I've ever read. Not sure why I never picked one up before, but I do know what's attracted me to them lately. It's this new series they've got going within the Blaze books called EXTREME. It's going to deal with vampires, superheroes, witches, ghosts and that type of thing. So of course, I took notice! Lol.

Anyway. This is about a superhero that has lost her powers and is now struggling to learn how to be normal. However, things get complicated when Daniel enters Risa's life to make sure she's settled into 'normal', and isn't actually working for the enemy. Of course, there's much more to what he has to try to uncover. After all, he is a CIA agent.

What I really enjoyed about this book was that although Risa was supposed to be the one that didn't have a grasp of normalcy in her life because she'd been raised in a lab, Daniel was as out of touch as she was. And together, well, let's just say the sparks fly. I loved the sensuality and raw emotion that develops between them, even if it's continually shadowed by suspicion. It keeps you guessing and wondering just how, and if, these two will ever find middle ground enough to be together.

I'm very glad I decided to try out this Blaze, because it's convinved me to check out all the Extremes they release... as well as a few others. I already have Hitting the Mark by Jill Monroe. ;)

ROGUE ANGEL: THE CHOSEN

Archaeologist Annja Creed believes there's more to the apparitions of Santo Niño - the Holy Child - luring thousands of pilgrims to Santa Fe. Other sightings of strange and anomalous creatures in the area indicate a mystery more profane than sacred - with links, perhaps, to Annja's own fate. But she is not alone in her quest to separate reliquaries from unholy minds who dare to harness sinister power. A dangerous yet enigmatic Jesuit, sworn to protect the Vatican at any cost, a brilliant young artist whose genius portrays a truth too potent for words and a famed monster hunter with a terrifying agenda are the keys to the secrets that lie in the heart of Los Alamos - and unlocking the door to the very fabric of time itself...

This was the fourth Rogue Angel book. Man, is this Annja Creed a cool chick or what? I love to read these books because she gets into all sorts of trouble, no matter where she goes in the world. Honestly, there's always someone trying to kill her. And I suppose, the fact that she has access to Joan of Arc's sword has something to do with it. The way she accesses that sword is totally cool, BTW.

Anyway, this was another fun installment. Of course it was once again action-packed, and even introduced some monsters. How these monsters came to be was totally disturbing. But I won't say anymore. If you want to know, you'll have to read it. Lol.

I especially liked Father Godin in this book. Man, that guy was kick ass! Put him together with Annja and wow - awesome. If you're into action-packed books that just don't stop, then these are for you. Oh, and if you love conspiracy theory-type stuff (which I do) and Vatican-related stuff (which once again, I do!) then you definitely can't go past this series!

And I love these covers too. Check out the God of Thunder cover here. Gorgeous!

CHANGELING

"Someone’s been slaughtering the Weres of the Rainier Puma Pride, and my sisters and I have been enlisted to investigate by Zachary Lyonnesse, golden boy of the werepumas. Right away we smelled demon trouble, and we tracked it directly into the snare of the Hunters Moon Clan, sworn enemies of Puma Pride. But there’s more than Were rivalry at work. It’s that old demon Shadow Wing who’s setting a deadly snare for the pumas. We have to find out why, which means a visit one to of the Immortals. Unfortunately, for my sisters and me, our half-human blood is just enough to put us in mortal danger."

This brilliant novel is the second in the Sisters of the Moon Series. I absolutely loved the first one, which was in the POV of Camille. This is in the POV of Delilah D'Artigo, who happens to be a half human, half-Faerie, werecat PI and member of the OIA .

The story continues, and we catch up with many of the characters introduced in the first novel, plus a whole bunch of new ones. It sucked me in as soon as I started reading it, and once I got stuck into it, I couldn't put it down. It was fascinating, fantastic and full of adventure.

Once again, books like these are the reason why I *love* urban fantasy so much. There's a bit of everything. I can't wait to read Menolly's story. I'm totally fascinated by her. But of course, I also can't wait to see what else Delilah will have to face... sorry, don't want to spoil it for anyone. ;) So I won't go into it.

Everyone should read this book, and this series. Yasmine Galenorn is one amazing writer, and she's totally captivated me with the world she's created.

I give this book 10/10.

BLOOD SECRETS

Caine Valorian and his Otherworld Crime Unit crack all the unusual cases before any humans take notice. When a young woman is found ritualistically murdered it's his team of professionals with paranormal gifts who must stop the nameless evil stalking the streets. But the toughest case of Caine's 200-year career gets even harder when a new member, Eve Grant, is assigned to their unit. Not only is she green and eager to impress, she's human.

As they sink deeper into the workings of the case, Caine's attraction to the alluring Eve is causing his blood to boil. And with war brewing between species, the all-consuming passion between a human and a vampire won't be the only thing to spill on the city's mean streets.

I had the pleasure of reading this book last week. Okay, so it was only a few days last week because I got so caught up in it, I just had to keep on going until I was done! And wow. I absolutely loved it!

I love Vivi's writing style in this book so much, that over the weekend I picked up another one of her books called Hell Kat. And I'll definitely be on the lookout for more of her stuff.

This book was intoxicating. Caine and Eve were fantastic characters and their sensual attraction towards each other was very effective. The storyline was also engrossing, as were the other characters in the book. I loved Caine's team. I loved the city of Necropolis, and the visual atmosphere that was conjured up inside my mind with Vivi's words. I loved everything about this book, from beginning to end.

Caine Valorian is an intriguing character that I would love to read more about. I also enjoyed how Eve complimented him. Man, I thought this book was awesome! I'll definitely be looking out for the other Valorian Chronicles books.

Honestly, this book was fantastic. If you like paranormals, or heck, just if you like a great story, you should most definitely pick this book up. You won't be disappointed, I sure wasn't. :D
