WHY I QUIT ZOMBIE SCHOOL by RL Stine

Why I Quit Zombie School (Goosebumps: Hall of Horrors, #4)
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I decided to grab this book today. Mainly because the condition is so shitty and I want it out of the house. 💩

Matt has just been enrolled in boarding school for the first time. But this isn't your average school, there are a lot of undead kids walking the halls...

Uh, for being a zombie book it wasn't remotely creepy. Sure, there were plenty of tropes and familiar undead stuff going on, but the story pacing was way tooooooo slow.

I don't know if it's because it's a Hall of Horrors or if it's just this book, but it wasn't as cool or as intriguing as the books in the original series. There seemed to be something missing. Something I can't put my finger on.

Anyway, at least the ending was funny.

ZOMBIES HATE STUFF by Greg Stones

Zombies Hate Stuff
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a book that hubby found last week in a thrift store. It's a bit of a jokey pick that we HAD to buy because as soon as he showed me, I laughed. A lot.

I just finished reading a pretty intense and awesome book, so this was the best read to follow it up with. 😁

So, there's really not much to this book. It's broken up into three sections featuring what Zombies Hate, what Zombies Don't Mind, what Zombies Really Hate, and you might even find out if they actually love anything/anyone.

I enjoyed this because it made me chuckle. I also liked the artwork, and even felt sorry for Zombie a few times. He sure gets himself into some sticky situations. And I couldn't help but wonder why he didn't like several things. 😂

This picture book is a lighthearted and fun look at the dreaded zombie. Even though I laughed a lot, there's also an underlining disturbing air about the whole thing.

Because, you know, zombies! 🧟‍♀️

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

The thing about this book is that although it might be a hilarious and fun read without many words, it reminded me that I'm still a big zombie fan.

Unfortunately, the zombie market became inundated a few years ago so people started to switch off. But the truth is, I'm still a zombie fan. And I think it's been too long since I read a brain-eating undead tale.

I want to thank this book for the very cool reminder.

WHITE TRASH ZOMBIE GONE WILD by Diana Rowland

24453097
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is fast becoming one of my favourite UF series. So when I started this one and we're back in Tucker Point, I got comfy and couldn't wait to see what Angel's new adventure was going to be.

And isn't this cover absolutely beautiful? I love it. Heaps.

After the ordeal in New York, Angel is back home and back to work at the Coroner's Office. She's now also working in the Tribe lab with Dr. Nikas and is even taking a biology course in college. Everything seems to be going great, except that she's hiding a V12 addiction. And finds herself slipping back into the Once an addict, always an addict downward spiral. But when the drug starts having some awful side effects, Angel knows she has to give it up... but with so much going on, how can she?

With Zombiefest and Mardi Gras hitting town at the same time, some really strange stuff is going on. Like the mysterious guy with the cadaver dog who won't leave her alone, Randy and his two friends getting caught up in some dangerous shit, the local survivalist zeroing in on her, and the case of the decapitated corpse. Did I mention the FBI and a suspicious boss?

This book was totally awesome! I loved how Angel finds herself on a roller-coaster ride of lies as she tries to hide the addiction that gets her into SO MUCH trouble. The worst kind of trouble for a zombie trying to stay in one piece. O_o

It's also super fun as she gets caught up between the human and zombie worlds with some really interesting results. I thought it was cool how she took it upon herself to help the Tribe even though they seemed so determined to keep her in the dark. Oh, and I have to say that it was awesome to have Marcus and Pietro/Pierce absent for most of the story. I'm so over those two. LOL. But seriously, they kinda bog the story down if they're in it for too long.

One of my favourite things about this particular book was how the hidden zombie world collides with the human obsession with zombies. It was very clever, and filled with some very intense scenes that kept me glued to the page. So good!

Well, now that Zombie Fest and Mardi Gras are over and Angel's back together (LOL), I can't wait to see where the story goes.

Oh, and BTW, did I mention that I'm now all caught up? Well, I am. :)

HOW THE WHITE TRASH ZOMBIE GOT HER GROOVE BACK by Diana Rowland

19486406
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

All the covers in this series are really awesome, and this one is super creepy. Angel falling apart is an awesome way to portray what happens in this installment.

Angel finally passed her GED (yay!) and is still enjoying her job at the Coroner's Office (cool). She even gets along really well with (most of) her co-workers. Plus she's got a BFF (Naomi). But her relationship with Marcus isn't going so great because he's still trying to make decisions for both of them without checking with her first!

When a bunch of her zombie Tribe get kidnapped by the evil Saberton Corporation she finds herself teaming up with Naomi, Philip and Kyle in hopes of saving everyone. But when the double crossing begins and it seems like someone is feeding the enemy information, it gets really hard to figure out who can be trusted.

Yet, that's not going to stop this white trash zombie...

Okay. There are a LOT of awesome things about this book: Angel's snarky voice, the growing zombie world (got insight into some of the history), how deeply she's getting herself into the Tribe, her friendship with Naomi, and that--no matter what the cost--she's always willing to help everyone. But there were a few things that got in the way: Marcus is really starting to get annoying, their time in NYC went way too long, and several scenes even made the story drag in some places. I just felt that this book could've been a little shorter and tighter, like the previous three books.

Oh, and I really liked some of the gross zombie imagery. Some screwed up zombie weirdness goes on in this one.

But, OMG, there was one thing about this book that was AWFUL. The freaking font size! For some reason--maybe because the story was longer--the font type was TINY. Unless it was broad daylight, it made my eyes hurt. So I found myself reading only a few chapters at night and the bulk during the day. O.o It was a bit of a pain.

Anyway, in spite of the few draggy issues, I still enjoyed this addition to the series and can't wait to see what Angel gets up to next.

I'm almost caught up. Just have one book left.

WHITE TRASH ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE by Diana Rowland

15738579
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Man, I really like the covers for this very clever series. Also, now that I've found my way back to this series (after losing track of what was on my bookshelves) I'm excited about catching up. And this installment didn't disappoint.

Angel the zombie is back. She's busy collecting dead bodies for the Coroner's Office, trying to keep a relatively good relationship with her dad, and has decided that even though she's no longer on parole, she's still going to get her GED. After all, with the way her body heals it's become obvious that zombies are capable of living long lives. So she doesn't want to be uneducated for decades.

Only problem is that her life isn't easy. There seem to be shadowy people tailing her, things aren't going great with her non-boyfriend, some creepy things are happening on the set of a zombie movie, and there's the real threat of a flood pending. That's too much for one person to handle, but Angel isn't like other people...

OMG. Loved it! The third book in the White Trash Zombie series is just as good as the first two. I love Angel's voice. And felt so bad for her because in this book, she loses so much.

I also love how such a fun character is balanced out with a lot of very serious and dangerous stuff. Not to mention the zombie mafia. Or the companies experimenting with zombies. Plus, how cool is this world turning out to be? It seems to expand just a bit more with each book, and the twists and turns are really cool.

One thing I'm really liking is Angel's relationship with her father. It's so sweet, that she cares about him so much even though he's let her down so many times. Their interactions are so good, and super emotional.

Oh, and the Philip angle is equal parts fascinating and freaky.

Yep. I'm loving this series. Can't wait to see where it goes next...

EVEN WHITE TRASH ZOMBIES GET THE BLUES by Diana Rowland

12766833

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Since I've been reorganising my bookshelves and getting in touch with books I'd forgotten I had, I decided to read this one. It's an UF story, with a twist of zombie goodness, so I knew I'd enjoy it. Especially since I really liked the first one!

Angel Crawford is a zombie, and becoming one of the undead has actually helped her get her life on track. She's got a decent job at the coroner's office, her boyfriend has the same condition, and she's even getting along with her alcoholic father. Of course, the side effect is that she has to eat human brains. But hey, nobody's perfect! :P

When she's held at gunpoint and a body gets taken from the morgue, her checkered past comes back to haunt her. To complicate things, Marcus wants her to meet his uncle, there might be more zombie hunters around, and a freaky lab is doing some weird shit with zombies.

Things are complicated, and there's plenty to make Angel glum, but with her new attitude she's determined to figure out what's going on...

OMG. Why did I wait so long to return to this? I loved the second book in this super awesome series. It's got everything that I love about urban fantasy: a strong flawed heroine with a heart, attitude, a gritty story, excellent secondary characters, a good dose of horror, an engaging mystery, and plenty of zombie coolness.

Yeah, this was awesome! I love how we're discovering just how deep and mysterious the zombie world really is, at the same time as Angel. And that there's a zombie mafia is genius.

Oh, btw, how awesome are the covers in this series?

Can't wait to read the next one.

ZOMBIE BLONDES by Brian James

2470680
Zombie Blondes by Brian James
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

As you can probably tell, I'm spending October reading creepy books. So I thought I'd give this one a go. Although I enjoyed the beginning because it had a Stepford Wives and Disturbing Behavior vibe going, the more I read the less I liked it.

My main problem is with Hannah. She starts out being a normal girl. She's new in school and wants to fit in, but she's okay with staying off the radar. At first. Then she becomes obsessed with fitting in with the popular blondes. It's all she cares about, and she treats the few kids willing to offer friendship like crap. She just falls into the whole cheerleader thing too quickly too. I wasn't convinced about anything, because Hannah is awful. And not interesting awful, either.

And the zombie angle? O_o

Nope. Not remotely creepy.

Actually, the creepiest thing about this book was the set up. And that's mostly because I let it build up in my own head. Oh, and Lukas was kinda creepy with his turning up everywhere and always warning her and letting her step all over him.

Yeah. Unfortunately, this book didn't work for me. I just didn't care about the characters or the town, or anything.

O.M.G.

This is how you write a duology!

I absolutely LOVED this book as much as the first. After reading several second books that totally sucked and felt like they were written without any consideration for the first book, this was so refreshing!

When Bobby, Smitty, Alice, Pete and Bobby's mother boarded a bus at the end of UNDEAD, they thought they were leaving behind the zombie ordeal. Instead, they get into more trouble. The kind of trouble that separates them, has Bobby waking up in a mysterious hospital, and reveals that zombies are still very much a problem. With just a few clues to help them figure out where to go next, the kids once again find themselves running. But where are they running to? And, are there any safe places left?

Yikes.

What a great fast-paced story! As soon as the book starts, it's full-steam ahead. I didn't want to put it down! The tension is gripping from cover to cover. Bobby's voice is so fun. And I also loved the humour. But don't let your guard down with the fun stuff, because this story is brutal. The humans are awful, the zombies are creepy, and the situation is HARSH.

This duology has definitely joined the list of my most fave zombie stories. I loved it. Heaps!

HORROR BLOCK x 2

It feels like I've fallen behind on just about everything lately, so this time I've decided to post the contents of the February and March HORROR BLOCK boxes together.

As you all know, this is what the box looks like every month:

Here's a quick look at how they were packed...

(February is on the left. March is on the right.)

As you can see, there seems to be a zombie theme both times.

And here's what was inside:

Once again, February contents are on the left and the right is what came in March.

I was actually very happy with both boxes, though I have to admit that I'm really over the magazine. I wish they would swap it for something else, I really do.

Anyway. The zombie stuff is all exclusive to HORROR BLOCK and kicks-ass.

This is still my favourite subscription box. :)

Have a Horror Friday!

UNDEAD by Kirsty McKay

OMG. This book was SO MUCH fun!

It had everything I like in a zombie story: thrills, chills, zombie madness, survivors that care about each other, plenty of laughs, asshole humans, lotsa action, heartbreaking situations, and kick-ass characters. There's also a castle! I mean, come on, that's the perfect place to hide, right? Or, maybe not. O.o

The characters were all different kinds of kids. The types that could have become boring clichés, but they were all awesome in their own way. Yes, even Malice. :P

Plus, as an added bonus, you even get to find out how this started. Oh, and there's an awesome twist at the end that involves the main character--Bobby--that I didn't see coming.

Loved it. I can't wait to read the next one!

PLEASE REMAIN CALM by Courtney Summers

22432577
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Today I had a bit of a zombie-reading day. I read The Walking Dead #136 and then got stuck into this novella. :)

I LOVED This Is Not A Test, so I was looking forward to reading this one. Especially after my daughter read it and kept talking about the ending.

Sloane and Rhys are determined to reach Rayford because it's supposed to be safe, but the world they live in is dangerous and overrun by the dead. So they wind up losing each other. Rhys barely survives and is convinced he'll never see her again, but sometimes the pendulum swings from bad to good luck when you least expect it. Before screwing you up again.

The story is told by Rhys, and I have to admit that at first I missed Sloane's POV because Rhys was a little too abrupt. And even whiny. But that was when they were together. As soon as they're apart, his story really took off. The secondary characters in this novella were so interesting.

And like my daughter said: THAT ENDING. OMG. WTH? No. :(

It all came together very well. I really enjoyed this, and hope there's another one coming. I need to know what happens next.

THIS IS NOT A TEST by Courtney Summers

12043771
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love zombie books and since it's October, I want to read as many creepy/spooky/horror books as I can.

So I started with this one.

On the day the apocalypse strikes, Sloane Price is about to end her life. She's had enough of her abusive father, and can't stand to go on without the sister who abandoned her. But as the dead rise, she runs from home and ends up joining a handful of survivors.

They barricade themselves inside the local high school, while the dead thump at the doors.

Sloane doesn't care whether she lives or dies, but does care about the others. As they co-exist in the tense environment they're forced into, another threat enters their domain and tears apart their sense of safety.

Wow. This book is AMAZING. So intense! Like any good zombie book worth reading, the real threat comes from the living. And not just from others, because Sloane is a threat to herself. She doesn't care if she lives or dies, thinks of herself as broken beyond repair, and is haunted by her sister's abandonment.

She's barely living, but as the story goes on starts to learn more about herself. It's strange to believe that the zombie apocalypse actually turned out to be her gateway to freedom.

I also loved the very complicated relationships between all the kids--the resentment, anger, lies and guilt that keeps everyone at arm's length. And how she finds closure from her sad and tormented family life in the creepiest--yet probably best--screwed up way.

Like I said, excellent story.

Loved it!

THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS by M.R. Carey

A terrible, wonderful, heart-breaking story about hope and humanity and a young girl who tries to save the world.

Melanie is a very special girl. Dr Caldwell calls her 'our little genius'. Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don't like her. She jokes that she won't bite, but they don't laugh. Melanie loves school. She loves learning about spelling and sums and the world outside the classroom and the children's cells. She tells her favourite teacher all the things she'll do when she grows up. Melanie doesn't know why this makes Miss Justineau look sad.

I started hearing good things about this book about a month ago, but I had no idea what it was about and kept it that way by not reading any reviews. The title didn't give anything away, and neither did the cover. Now that I've read the book, both of them are huge clues to the heart of this story.

Melanie is a very smart girl. She loves school, is comfortable with her routine and has a huge crush on one of her teachers. Miss Justineau enjoys teaching her class, but they're not normal kids and she certainly isn't part of an average school. Sometimes, she almost forgets just how dangerous these kids really are. Sergeant Parks performs his job every single day, and is in charge of getting the kids to and from the classroom. Dr. Caldwell is a scientist obsessed with finding a cure that will save the dead world they live in. And she's willing to sacrifice just about anything to complete her precious research.

The day she decides it's time to experiment on the smartest kid in the class, the walls of their secure army base are compromised. Junkers invade with an army of hungries as their main weapons. Life behind the secure walls of their base is shattered. Now these handful of survivors are on the run: a hungry girl unlike the others, a teacher with her own past secrets, a Sergeant and a Private who commandeer a Humvee, and the crazy scientist. Dr. Caldwell might almost lose the use of her hands in the struggle, but she's still willing to survey what's left of the world as valuable additions to her research.

Together, these five very different individuals are forced to run from relative safety while trying to stay ahead of the violent junkers, and doing whatever they can to avoid being eaten by the hungries. But as they head back towards the one place they all initially came from but secretly despise for their own reasons--with limited supplies and a kid that could lose it at any moment--they instead find themselves in the middle of a new and very different threat.

Wow. This book was amazing! Really, it was. I was hooked as soon as I started reading, and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. Even though the story starts out in a seemingly familiar way--with a child who loves school and her teacher--it's soon obvious that there's a whole lot more going on in this very dark and dangerous world. After all, most kids aren't strapped to wheelchairs for their lessons, or will be overcome by the desperate need to eat their teachers if their human scent isn't chemically-covered.

The story is told in the POV of all five characters, so we get to find out how each of them feels and inwardly reacts to all the events that unfold. I especially enjoyed spending time with Melanie, because in spite of what she is, she's an amazing character with a very gifted mind and logic.

The world they inhabit might reflect a familiar apocalyptic wasteland, but there's so much more going on.

The Girl with All the Gifts is a thrilling, tense ride that keeps you guessing all the way through. It's a unique addition to a genre that I love. You keep wondering what's around the corner, and might even try to guess what's about to happen next, but you won't. I loved the unpredictability of this book, and how it surprised me all the way to the very fascinating end. Also, I got a kick out of the obvious parallels made to the myth of Pandora.

I loved this eerie book!

May Day

So, did you enjoy the Sierra Fox Blog Book Tour? I hope you liked the guest blogs, fun interviews, and contests that took place during the last week. I had a blast.

I just want to say THANK YOU to every single blogger who helped get the word out about Sierra's fourth book. :)

Phew. It was busy, that's for sure.

Oh, and in case you were wondering. Not only did I celebrate the release of Sierra Fox, Book 4 last week, but I also completed the first round of edits for Sierra's fifth/final book. It was a bittersweet experience. On one hand I'm super excited about the upcoming release and can't wait to share the conclusion with everyone. But on the other hand, it's sad.

Strange, right?

This week my daughter went back to school and all the public holidays are done, so it's back to being alone at home and trying to write, revise, edit as much as possible. While hanging out with Loki, of course. But this week, I'm taking a mental break. I should get the next round of edits back soon, but I needed this week to get a bit of a breather. There are a few smaller tasks that I need to tackle, and I'm slowly crossing them off the to-do list. It feels good to catch up on bits & pieces after being so focused on one project.

I also got a chance to catch up on a bunch of The Walking Dead comic books. So I'm now up to date and can't wait to see if the series takes a new direction, or if it will keep circling around similar territory. Don't get me wrong, I love these comic books. They're violent, shocking and filled with characters that I keep praying will survive another issue. LOL. But it would be good to see the survivors actually get a chance to reboot civilization.

What else is new? Oh, yeah. See the picture I posted today? It's actually a peek into a diy journal that my daughter and I put together on Monday. That's my one. Basically, we grabbed a bunch of scrap/loose paper and made some cute journals. We even made our own very different covers. It was a LOT of fun, and I'm looking forward to tackling more craft ideas with my daughter. She's inherited my love for stationery. ;)

Well, that's about it. I'm hoping to do everything I have on my to-do list by tomorrow afternoon, so I can enjoy the weekend.

SHAPESHIFTED by Cassie Alexander

15831550
Shapeshifted by Cassie Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OMG. I love this series! I enjoyed the first two books so much I was really looking forward to reading the third. And it didn't disappoint.

Edie Spence is a nurse and since she was shunned--for her own safety--from the supernatural community six months ago, her life has gone downhill. She lost her job at the County Hospital and has been working the night shift in a sleep apnea clinic. Everything gets worse when her mother tells her she's ill. :(

So when Edie applies for a job in a health clinic, she decides to devote herself to her new job. And starts to get to know the mysterious doctor, Hector. But instead of getting on with a new 'normal' life, she once again gets caught up with vampires and shapeshifters. And if she can find someone along the way to help her mother, all the better.

There were quite a few unexpected surprises in this book, as well as the return of Edie's zombie ex. I loved the Santa Muerte angle and all the Hispanic superstitions. Oh, and Olympio cracked me up. Such a smarty pants kid with so much courage. Edie and Olympio made a great team!

This installment was awesome. I'm loving this series and can't wait to read the next one. Good thing I've already pre-ordered it. ;)

THE NEW HUNGER by Isaac Marion

The New Hunger (Warm Bodies, #0.5)The New Hunger by Isaac Marion
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved WARM BODIES, and a few weeks ago watched the movie. So I couldn't wait to read another story set in this dark, yet hopeful world.

The story is told in three different POVs:

There's Julie, a hardened twelve-year-old girl on the road trip from hell. Her parents are searching for safety--somewhere they can settle down with other survivors and carry on with their lives in a fallen world where the Dead don't stay dead.

There's also Nora, a teenager travelling with her little brother. Abandoned by their parents and trying to stay alive, they're starving and tired. The only way she knows how to keep them safe is to continue walking.

And last--but certainly not least--we have a man with a red tie, who wakes up beside a beautiful dead girl and doesn't know what's happening to him. I guess it's no mystery who he turns out to be. :)

These small individual groups all end up in the same place for different reasons. And for all of them, their journey is heartbreaking.

I loved this novella! It was everything I hoped it would be, and a whole lot more. I enjoyed meeting younger versions of characters featured in the book, and found out a whole lot more about what happened to the world and why some zombies are different.

Yeah, this is another keeper. Fantastic!

WORLD WAR Z: AN ORAL HISTORY OF THE ZOMBIE WAR by Max Brooks

It began with rumours from China about another pandemic. Then the cases started to multiply and what had looked like the stirrings of a criminal underclass, even the beginnings of a revolution, soon revealed itself to be much, much worse.
Faced with a future of mindless, man-eating horror, humanity was forced to accept the logic of world government and face events that tested our sanity and our sense of reality. Based on extensive interviews with survivors and key players in the 10-year fight-back against the horde,World War Z brings the very finest traditions of American journalism to bear on what is surely the most incredible story in the history of civilisation.

I love zombie books. So after hearing good things about this one and reading quite a few positive reviews, I was looking forward to reading it...

This isn't your average zombie book, it's actually written like a non-fiction account of a fictional event. So it reads like a reference book, which takes some getting used to. There are different testimonies from a variety of people about what happened when the pandemic began, and even where it originated from.

At first, I was intrigued and couldn't wait to read more survivor stories, but with each new account and interview I found myself getting lost in the voices...until they all began to blur. And started sounding like the same person.

WORLD WAR Z: AN ORAL HISTORY OF THE ZOMBIE WAR is an original, well written and clever book that takes a very different approach to the zombie genre. And while it's entertaining, for me it lacked the heart of why I love zombie books so much. I tried so hard to like it--because to be honest, I wanted to love it--but there was just something missing.

It was good, but as a whole, didn't work for me.

MY LIFE AS A WHITE TRASH ZOMBIE by Diana Rowland

My Life as a White Trash Zombie (White Trash Zombie, #1)
Angel Crawford is a loser

Living with her alcoholic deadbeat dad in the swamps of southern Louisiana, she's a high school dropout with a pill habit and a criminal record who's been fired from more crap jobs than she can count. Now on probation for a felony, it seems that Angel will never pull herself out of the downward spiral her life has taken.

That is, until the day she wakes up in the ER after overdosing on painkillers. Angel remembers being in an horrible car crash, but she doesn't have a mark on her. To add to the weirdness, she receives an anonymous letter telling her there's a job waiting for her at the parish morgue—and that it's an offer she doesn't dare refuse.

Before she knows it she's dealing with a huge crush on a certain hunky deputy and a brand new addiction: an overpowering craving for brains. Plus, her morgue is filling up with the victims of a serial killer who decapitates his prey—just when she's hungriest!

Angel's going to have to grow up fast if she wants to keep this job and stay in one piece. Because if she doesn't, she's dead meat.

Literally.

OMG! This book is... awesome. I loved it.

Angel is pretty much a loser. She lives with her alcoholic father, only works dead-end jobs, has a boyfriend that helps her dependency on drugs, and has no ambitions. Well, that's until she dies. She might not remember the night she died or the overdose that supposedly killed her, but she's not going to screw up her second chance. Especially since someone was nice enough to line up a job at the morgue for her.

All of a sudden, things are looking up. She actually enjoys the job and is even good at it. Of course, this new life comes with a side effect... she's constantly craving brains. Yep, Angel's a zombie!

This story was a great new twist on the zombie genre. Actually, it combines two of my most favourite (reading) things--UF and zombies. And it's so well done, too. Angel's a very well written character. I was totally cheering her on and wanted her to get out of the shitty slump and take control of her life. The mystery of her death and the serial killer murders was also interesting... and the outcome, awesome!

Yeah, I loved it. Guess who ordered the next two books? ;)

OMG! I can't believe what happened in this volume of The Walking Dead! I am outraged, sad, pissed off, grossed out... I just can't believe that one of the characters that has been there from the very beginning is now gone.

A lot of stuff happened. Glenn and Maggie are expecting their first child, Andrea and Rick finally get together, Carl shows just how hard he's become but that there are things that can still break him, and we finally meet the asshole who calls himself Negan.

I really enjoyed this, though I have to admit that I'm deeply saddened why the barbaric ways of this new world. It's almost like the zombies aren't even their biggest threat anymore, it's other humans! And I find that very sad. Probably because this might be fiction, but I can see the greed of humanity and the need to survive twisting people this way. :(

Anyway. I'm glad that Rick has another--secret--plan, and can't wait to find out what it is.

RIP Abraham and Glenn.

Hey! Stuff happened!

See this cute pic? That's exactly how I feel today.

*yawn*

So tired. I'm feeling a little crappy today. I keep yawning, have a huge headache that I can't shake, feel wonky and can't stop thinking about taking a nap. Maybe I should do that.

Maybe.

Anyway. I think I'm mentally exhausted. Looks like the last few weeks of being totally engrossed in the third draft of Sierra Fox #4 have finally caught up with me. It kinda feels like my brain's telling me I need a few days off.

I'll try, but I'm not the kind of person that can do nothing. Or stop thinking about things. Like I mentioned last time, my head's already full of Sierra Fox #5 snippets. But I won't be writing it yet. I need a little down time to catch up on some reading and take plenty of notes about this book I'm itching to write in May. :)

So, like I mentioned earlier... the fourth book is done. The synopsis is done. And I've emailed everything to my lovely editor. Now comes the worrying. Funny how you can be so excited a second after finishing the book and sending it in, then the worry starts to cloud your judgement. O_o

Oh well. I'm not going to think about that. Best to concentrate on other things.

Man, writers sure can be a weird, neurotic lot...

Hubby and I watched the second last ep of The Walking Dead last night... it was AWESOME! I love this show so much. I can't wait to see what happens next week, but don't want it to end. Think I'll have to get stuck into the comic books again. I've fallen behind a bit.

Oh, and did you hear the terrible news? MCR broke up! I can't believe it. I was shocked, and sad. I love this band and everything their music meant to me. Personally, I've found a lot of inspiration in their music and was looking forward to more. Guess I'll just have to listen to their past albums over and over again, which is fine with me! :)

My Chemical Romance lives on...

Time to go. See ya!
