Sunny days are finally here!

The other day I mentioned that I had a new shade in my hair, and here it is! What'd you think? I love it.

I took this pic--with my daughter's help--this morning and finally managed to capture the actual colour. I've taken a few other shots, but they came out looking a little too dark because my hair looks black indoors. It's not until the sun is shining on it that you can see the true shade. :)

So. This week's flying by. I'm slowly working my way through my to-do list, but for some reason it feels like I'm not getting anything done. I always feel that way after finishing a first draft, revision or edit. When I'm working on either one of those, there are always word and page counts achieved at the end of the day, but now there's nothing. lol.

I just need to adjust, that's all. Which isn't going to be easy if Sierra things keep popping into my head.

Yesterday, my daughter and I attended Orientation Day at the high school she'll be attending next year. It was one of those really tiring things that took a few hours and left me exhausted, even though I didn't do much but sit around and listen. The cool thing is that my daughter's actually excited about starting high school, not worried/scared. I shouldn't be surprised since she was the same way when she was about to start pre-school and kindy. She adapts well, so I hope things go very well for her next year. Sometimes, I can't believe she's actually going to start Year 7 in 2013.

Time sure flies!

As far as my to-do list, I've managed to cross off a bunch of things but still have a few things left to tackle--some nitty-gritty worldbuilding issues/character notes/inspirational pics for one of my upcoming projects, random Sierra research, and nitty-gritty behind the scenes stuff for the final Sierra book. Doesn't sound like much, but it kinda is, so I'm taking my time with it.

One thing I haven't done this week is read. I just haven't had the time because I get caught up in my own stories and/or end up playing Zookeeper for ages. :D

Well, better go and do something...

It's a wet Monday...

Yeah, it is. And I'm kinda over the shitty rainy weather already. Sure, it's only been going for a few days but it's summer now and I want me some sunny, lovely days with blue skies. Not this dark and dreary crap that belongs in winter. :/

Enough bitching about the weather.

We had an awesome weekend, though I wish it wasn't over. They're never long enough, are they? I did get some awesome (awesome) news that had me giddy all weekend. Okay, I'm still giddy about it. Hopefully I can share the news soon. :)

Hubby coloured my hair on Saturday, and it looks great! I was also happy about not suffering any sort of allergic reaction, like what happened in early October. I went back to using the brand that was working for me, just chose a different colour. This time I used Raspberry Black, and I really like it.

So, what else did I do? Well, not much really. We had a nice relaxing weekend, though we did buy my daughter's high school uniform! I can't believe she's starting high school next year. Actually, this Wednesday, I'm going to attend Orientation Day. Yikes!

Okay. That's it for today. Haven't got much planned for this week, except for the to-do list I put together last week.

BTW, if you're interested... I blogged over at Samhain last Friday.

Have a nice day!

Checking in...

I can't believe I haven't had a chance to post here for a whole week! Yikes.

My daughter went back to school last Monday, so I got stuck into my final reading of Sierra Fox #3 at the beginning of the week. This time I sat down on the couch with my Samsung Galaxy Note and read the story from start to finish, to make sure everything made sense. I used Kingsoft Office for Android to make any changes, and then looked them over before accepting them on my laptop.

It was quite a painless process. I love how different it is to read your own story on the computer/laptop screen, as opposed to on a reading device. It makes anything obvious really stand out. I didn't actually find anything too drastic--a few typos, replaced a few words, rewrote some sentences, and made sure everything was consistent with the first two books in the series. Most of it was. (Thank goodness!)

Now, I've just got a few things to double check on Monday, and a synopsis to write. Then, I can submit it. Hoping to get everything finalised sometime next week, but I'd also like to take it easy for a bit. I want to catch up on some reading, and just relax for a while. Well, until the beginning of November, because I want to take part in NaNoWriMo this year.

OMG, before I forget... do you know what happened to me last Sunday? I'd picked out and bought a different hair dye a few months back--different brand and shade--and hubby started the process. Okay, everything was fine at the beginning. I was super excited to try out the new plum shade, curious to see how it would turn out. After five minutes, I started to feel a little strange. Not sure how to explain it, but I felt woozy and my heart was racing. Not to mention that my face was burning up. I told hubby, and we rinsed the dye right off. I was still feeling a little wonky afterwards, so I washed my hair twice--hoping to wash the damn thing away. In the end, I slowly started to feel much better and calmed down.

It was pretty scary, though. I obviously suffered an allergic reaction to the dye. Not sure why, since I'd been using a different one for about two years and never had a problem. It's all very confusing, but I guess I need to go back to the dye I was used to. Though I'd like to try a different colour.

I'm still a little freaked out about the incident, and even a little scared to dye my hair again. :(

Oh, and the weirdest thing is that the dye actually stuck. I was supposed to leave it in for about twenty minutes, but leaving it in for five changed the colour anyway. Freaky!

Well. That's about it. We also celebrated hubby's birthday on Tuesday, went to the dentist today, and my daughter's birthday is coming up this Wednesday. Always something to keep me busy, lol.

Have a good one!

My gosh!

This week is slipping away from me so quickly. I mean, don't get me wrong I've been super busy and that's why it's going so fast, but still.

So, I've been working really hard at getting the Sci-Fi rewrite done. I'd like to have it finished and submitted to my editor by early next week. Fingers crossed. There's a bit of work to be done. Several changes, additions, things to delete, others to ponder. But overall, there's been a lot of chopping and moving things around. I hope I'm not taking things in the wrong direction. The changes I'm making feel good so far.

I've reached pg 47/109. I've fallen a little behind, but that's okay. I'll be spending all day on it today.

I finally did what I've been thinking about doing for several weeks now. I cut most of the length off my hair. Well, hubby actually chopped the length and I've been cutting in some layers with my trusty razor comb (which is awesome!). I really like it! I think I needed the change. Now my hair sits just above my shoulders. Very cool.

Here are a few new things that have been going on... the Static Movement Anthology GHOSTS AND DEMONS is now available from The Book Depository. I ordered my copy the other day, can't wait to get it. And the MADNESS OF THE MIND Anthology is now available at Amazon. Also very cool!

And because I've become addicted to subbing stories to Static Movement anthos, I've had a trilogy of stories accepted into FAERIES - An Anthology of Magical Short Stories. These stories have been available before as eBooks, but never in print. And I changed a few details too. I did the same for the story I subbed to DARK ROMANCE - From the Far Side. I also had a horror shorty accepted into Oh, The Horror. Actually, my story kinda matches the cover. :)

Yeah, like I said: addicted. lol

Well. I guess that's it for this morning. I'm hoping to squeeze in at least one chapter before my daughter wakes up. So, catch'a later!

Some days...

...I wish I had straight hair.

Today's one of those days. But I have naturally wavy hair, and if I don't blowdry it--which I didn't have time to do this morning--then it dries all curly in the wrong spots. lol.

Oh well. What can you do?

This morning hubby and I popped into my fave bookstore in the city and I picked up two books. We also popped into a shopping centre on the way back, where we picked up a few bargains and enjoyed a lovely lunch.

Now he's gone to work and I'm back home with Loki. Who was a little upset that I didn't come right back. He likes to do that. An hour or two away from home is fine with him, any longer he doesn't like. But he's gotten over it now and is sitting on the couch closest to me. He's such a cutie!

Anyway. Today I'd like to write one more blog post that I've got scheduled for next week, and also finish reading the second story in this zombie anthology. Not much more planned. Although I do want to get into the right state of mind for my revision next week. Or, actually, tomorrow. I'd like to get started on it tomorrow while hubby and daughter go off to the pool. If I can get one chapter revised, that'll help me get through it by the end of the (next) week. Yay!

Well, that's it for now. I'm going to see if I can enjoy this overcast day. :/

Have a great weekend!
