THE LAST ECHO by Kimberly Derting

Violet Ambrose is The Body Finder - Last Echo is the third novel in the series - blending serial killer thriller with romance.

Violet has always kept her strange ability to sense dead bodies a secret from everyone except her family and best-friend-turned-boyfriend Jay. But now she's using her gift to help track down murderers, working in a group that includes the mysterious and dangerously attractive Rafe. When Violet discovers the body of a college girl murdered by "the girlfriend collector", she is determine to solve the case. But now the serial killer is on the lookout for a new "relationship" and Violet seems to have caught his eye...

This is the third book in The Body Finder series, which I really enjoy reading. It's got a great mix of teenage angst, suspense that keeps you hooked to the very end, and a mystery that keeps you guessing. The latest installment didn't disappoint...

Violet is a seventeen-year-old girl with a strange and unusual gift. She can sense/hear the echoes of the dead, which means she can find dead bodies. Something she's been doing all of her life. But now that she's actually working with a team of teenage psychics, she's actually trying to help find dangerous killers. At the moment, they're trying to track down a "girlfriend collector" who seems to be targeting college girls.

And if that wasn't hard enough, although she loves her boyfriend--and best friend since childhood--Jay, there's a guy on her team that has a strange effect on her. Rafe doesn't get along with many people and he keeps his distance from everyone, but for some reason, he seems to shadow Violet wherever she goes. And she doesn't particularly like it. Still, the more she learns about Rafe, the more she realises that he's just a lost soul in search of belonging. A guy with a gift he can't control and hasn't always helped him save innocents.

When Violet captures the attention of both a psycho and a serial killer, it puts her right in the middle of their current investigation...

The Last Echo is another awesome addition to this brilliant series! It kept me on the edge of my seat, my pulse racing as I followed Violet from one dangerous situation to another, and loved every minute of it. I still love the way Jay and Violet complement each other. And the title is so fitting, but you won't know what I mean until you get to the end.

Yeah, this is fast becoming another one of my fave series. Love it! I can't wait to read the next one.

There's only one thing that I don't get, and it's got nothing to do with the actual story. I don't understand why they changed the look of the covers now. This is the American cover, and I think it fits much better than the Australian one. Oh well.
