A Week Full of Words

Hi, how are you today? What did you get up to?

This week my husband and I went to get our annual blood tests. I also have to take an anti-inflammatory capsule for a week because I somehow hurt my right side/lat muscle. The weird thing is that I don't know how it happened. I mean, it could've been all the walking, or a particular exercise. Hell, maybe I hurt myself while sleeping. All I know is that I can't do the last bit of my daily walk for two weeks because the steep uphill incline triggers the pain plus pins and needles down my arm. Very, very strange. The doctor suspects it might be related to the nerves/muscle running across my lat and the back of my shoulder. 😫

Anyway. We'll see how it goes.

The other thing I did today was... I finally left Twitter. That's right. After 15 years, I deactivated my account. My husband deactivated his at the beginning of the week and to be honest, I was determined to stick around for a while. Even toyed with locking my account to private and only disconnecting temporarily. But the new AI bullshit was added, plus I'm over all the gross fascist crap that's going on over there.

Either way, I'm done. I deactivated and uninstalled the app from my phone. It's better this way because there's nothing left over there. Twitter died a long time ago and we were all holding onto a very thin memory of the place.

Besides, I'm still active on Bluesky (which I'm enjoy more and more), Threads and IG.

So, let's talk about writing.

Here's how I did:
  • Monday: 21,550w (added 4,015)
  • Tuesday: 25,450w (added (3,900)
  • Wednesday: no new words
  • Thursday: 29,247w (added 3,797)
  • Friday: 35,479w (added 6,232)
As you can see, even though I missed a day, this week's total word count was great. The numbers are good but what's even better is how the story keeps eating my brain so much that I'm constantly thinking about it. I keep dreaming about the characters, and can't stop images and snippets (about what's going to happen next) from popping into my head.

Yeah, I've been taking a lot of notes and looking for more inspirational pics. I also talk to my husband about it all the time. LOL.

This particular idea has been with me for MONTHS, so I'm not surprised that the words are flowing. Every time I sit down, the characters take over and I find myself getting lost in the story. I love when that happens!

Last week I mentioned that I wasn't sure if this was going to be a novella or a novel, but now that I've passed 35k and know what's to come, I'm pretty sure the total word count will surpass the novella length.

Well, asides from all this writing I also finished reading an excellent and very creepy book. You can read my review of DIAVOLA below. (Or hit the title for the direct link.)

That's it for this week, I think.

It's time to weekend. Have a good one!

Ouch!

Good morning, and Happy New Week!

We had another great weekend. It was hubby's birthday on Saturday, so we made sure he had an awesome day. I do believe it was a success. :) Then yesterday, we did a whole bunch of stuff. Phew. By the time we got to bed, I was so darn tired.

This morning, I woke up with a sore heel. Again. I know, this thing's not going away. And with the amount of walking I do, I expect it to stick around for a while. All I can do is try to rest it as much as I can when I'm home. I looked it up on the Internet this morning, and it looks like I might have this. I should try taping it up. Maybe that'll help a bit.

Well, after last week's super busy editing sessions, I'm going to take it easy today. I'd like to do a little planning, a little reading, and not much more. I need a mental rest. By Friday afternoon, I ended up completing the first round of CLASH edits, the last round of SINFUL edits, and the first draft for Recast #3. Yikes!

That's a lot of stuff. No wonder I don't feel like doing much today, lol.

Anyway, have a great day!

Ouch!

Last night, I was sitting on the end of my bed reading with the kitty sitting beside me, when it suddenly felt like something had gotten in my eye. I assumed it was an eyelash, because I often have one of my thick eyelashes falling into my eye and then struggle to get it out. This time, I couldn't find an eyelash, but had a hard time opening my eye.

In the end, the outer side of my right eye still hurts. It almost feels like something's stuck in it, but since I can't see anything I think I might've scratched my eyeball when I was trying to get whatever was stuck in there out. Now, it hurts when I blink, when my eye is open, and when it's closed. It's nowhere near as bad as it was last night, but very annoying. While I was sleeping, it kept watering and continuously woke me up when the tears tickled my other eyelid, nose, or face.

This is very annoying! I've put drops in there and am hoping that it heals on its own. I really don't want to go to the doctor about this, but if it doesn't fade away soon, I'll have no choice. Boo!

Anyway. I better stop rubbing it, that's for sure. O_o

Oh, remember the ordering issue I posted about yesterday. Well, I was pleasantly surprised when someone actually called me back to hear my story, apologise, and offer a solution in a way that customer service should. I was very happy to hear from them. All we wanted was some empathy, and not feel as if we were being ignored. That's now been done!

Well, what else? Not much, really. I've been taking it easy and started to fill out my Sierra Fox World Notebook. Today, I need to do some calculations for it. It's funny, but when you start doing something like this, you really get caught up in the world and seek to answer everything you can about it. I love that!

Okay. Have a great weekend!

Still in pain!

Check this out!

My bio is now up at Samhain. Yay! It's very exciting. I mean, my story won't be out until late this year (probably December) but I'm already listed.

I also received a birthday card from Samhain the other day and thought it was the sweetest thing. It made me smile. :)

Well, it's day three of the school holidays and I'm already starting to get a little irritable. I mean, I know that having this toe prob is making it super boring for my daughter because we hardly leave the house, but there's plenty to do here at home. Still, she finds it more exciting to ask me a thousand questions when I'm trying to add words. Lol.

Anyway, last night after she went to bed and before hubby got home, I squeezed in a pretty good writing run in. I managed to get up to 47027 words. Just a little under my daily target, but a lot higher than I thought I'd be. Let's hope today's a productive one too. Fingers crossed.

My toe's still swollen and purple. Actually, even the right side of my foot is bruised. I woke up this morning with a lot more pain than I had yesterday. Ouch! Although I did manage to walk around the grocery store with hubby and daughter for some much-needed food stuff. It hurt a bit and I was super slow - wearing one sneaker and one thong (flip-flop) - but I made it. Yay. I was reading online (haven't gone to the doctor) that it can take 3-4 weeks for the toe to heal naturally. I'm hoping for 2.

Anyway, I think it's time to pull the lappy out! See ya.

The Pinkie Toe

Yesterday, I was playing with my daughter, running around the house like a dope and smacked my pinkie toe against the edge of the shelving unit we have in the living room. It hurt like hell, but I was positive it would eventually fade. I mean, I've smacked my toes the same way many times. For some reason, my little toes always manage to find the edges of the furniture and I hurt myself. But this is different. It hurt like crazy and I had trouble walking. Getting around the house is suddenly the hardest task.

This morning, when I woke up, it was actually worse. It's swollen heaps and the bruise is a horrid shade of purple. I think it might be lumpy too. I really, really hope that I didn't break it... but I have a feeling that I might have. Now I'm worried about my other leg, because I'm over-compensating while I walk. And man, it HURTS! A lot. The only time it didn't hurt was when I was sleeping.

Anyway. My daughter's on school holidays at the moment. So... that's a good and bad thing. Good because I don't have to walk over to pick her up. Bad because I had plans to go for some nice walks, and even a picnic, by the river. Looks like none of that's going to happen for a few days at least. Which totally sucks! I *love* going for my daily walks. Today is definitely off the cards, though. We're stuck at home all day.

It's a shame because the weekend was a lot of fun. I hated bringing it to a painful close. :/

Anyway, enough about The Pinkie Toe.

On Friday, I hit 39,377 words. Which means that I just missed my goal of reaching 40k. But that's okay, I didn't miss it by much. And although I'm in terrible pain today, as soon as I'm done here, I'm heading over to my bedroom. There I will sit on the bed with my leg raised and some ice on my toe. Oh, and I'll be hanging out with the lappy, too. Let's hope I can get some words going and pump out about 4k today. It'll be hard because I just can't get comfy, but at least I'll be able to concentrate on something else for a bit. At least, that's the plan.

Have a better day than me!

Midweek today

Well, we're halfway through the week again. And halfway through May. Yikes! Before we realise it, X-Mas will be here again.

Anyway. You know what I haven't mentioned lately? My arm. I'm happy to report that the stiff/sore neck and shoulder combo has now faded. The pills the doctor gave me seemed to work very well. My elbow, though, that's a different story.

Tomorrow will mark week three, since the doctor told me not to lift any weights. That means I've got one more week to go. I really want to get back into it, though I have to admit that it still hurts a little. Definitely not as much as it did last month, but it still bothers me. I can't wait to get my strength up again. It feels a little weak at the moment.

Okay, the revision continues. Before I took off to pick my daughter up from school, I reached page 133/253. Today's target is to get to page 150. I worked out that by doing 50 pages a day, I could definitely get through this draft by the end of the week. So far, so good. I've still got one more session left tonight. So far, I've added 2k to it too. :)

I better get going now, got some interview questions to do...

Doesn't feel like a Monday today

And that's probably because of the long weekend we just had. :/

Anyway. Today also happened to be the last day of my daughter's school holidays. Tomorrow, we get back into the routine that seems to work better for everyone. Lol.

The cool thing about school holidays is that routine pretty much gets thrown out the window. It's not so bad for a few weeks. But it's also cool to get back into it.

I didn't want to get stuck into any new writing or revisions today. Instead, I wanted to concentrate on updating my website, MySpace, and things like that. Every time I have a new release, I like to do that.

We went for two long walks too. I feel like I have to somehow compensate the fact that I can't lift weights for a while. Man, I still can't get over that. My shoulder/arm still hurt. But I have to admit that it's mostly bearable now. The worst is the pain on my elbow. That doesn't seem to fade at all. :( Need that extra recovery time, I guess.

Over the weekend we watched a documentary called The King of Kong. It's basically the story of a man called Steve Wiebe, and how he beat a Donkey Kong record that had been standing for like 25 years. I know, I know... I started watching this show thinking: oh man, this is about nerds! But honestly, it was about so much more. It was about a decent family man who should have rightfully been given the record placing, instead of having to travel here and there to prove himself. While the obnoxious guy holding the world record snubbed and belittled him every chance he got! He didn't even introduce himself to the guy.

Man, this other guy's name is Billy Mitchell. And for some reason, he seemed convinced that he was some hot celeb who everyone needed to bow down to. I got really caught up in this story, hating what this Billy jerk said, claimed and did. He kept going on and on about how important it was to set world records live and in front of people. Then he goes and sends a very dodgy tape. My gosh. You really have to see this to believe it. Some people are evil, no matter what they do. Honestly...

Okay. I'm blogging a little later than usual. The day really went by very quickly, but I do feel like I've accomplished stuff. And tomorrow, I'm headin' back into Revision City. ;)
