80s Wednesday

As requested by my hubby, today I'm going to feature TRANSFORMERS.

Wikipedia: In this incarnation the planet Cybertron is running low on energy. The Heroic Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, set out in space to search for more energy but are attacked by the Evil Decepticons led by Megatron. Both races crash on Earth and lie in suspended animation for the next four million years. Awakened by a volcanic eruption, the computer on board, Teletran One, begins repairing Decepticons and Autobots. The Decepticons set out to plunder Earth's energy resources in order to have the energy to conquer Cybertron. The Autobots seek to prevent this and so the battle is renewed on Earth, Cybertron and across space.

You guys remember this, right? Sure, I was a little girl and spent most of my childhood wanting girly things, but I had two brothers and sometimes I noticed they had some really cool toys for boys too. And I wanted to be a part of it... several times! One of the toys that caught my eye were Transformers... I remember the song - Transformers, more than meets the eyes... Transformers, robots in disguise - with that robotic-kinda voice. Ha! That was cool.

But Transformers were so much more than just a bunch of toys! There was a show and a movie, and it's still going today. They made so many incarnations and re-released the majority of the toys. They're even making a movie now! I wonder what they'll do with that? I still prefer the older TV shows, they were cool. Maybe a little dated, but hey, it was the 80s!

My fave was this guy:

Optimus Prime is the leader of the heroic Autobots, and it is not hard to understand why he is so suited to the task. Prime uses all his talent to improve the world around him. Immensely kind and compassionate, Prime has dedicated himself to the protection of all life, particularly the inhabitants of Earth, and will battle his foes with unyielding resolve to uphold this belief. In power and intelligence, Optimus Prime has no equal, known as one of the greatest heroes on both Cybertron and Earth.

Optimus Prime transforms into a 1980s style Cab-Over semi-trailer, comprising three components.
