September is Here!

Hey, how are you today? How was your week? Mine was a little wonky. Or at least, I felt a little wonky.

We've had a few changes in our schedule lately and it's kinda messing around with us. Not to mention that I seem to have forgotten that although I LOVE spring and everything feels different, I always get a little sickish when we slip from winter to spring. And it seems like this year is no different.

Hopefully it doesn't stick around for long because I want to enjoy the longer days, and the absence of chilly weather. Although that seems to be hanging around. Ugh.

So, even though I haven't felt 100% all week, I still managed to get more spring cleaning/organising done. This week I continued with my desk, and got stuck into the many notebooks I've collected. I'm willing to part with a bunch of toys and collectibles, but not my notebooks and pens and sticky notes.

The best thing about clearing up and organising my desk is that I can actually sit down and use it, while having access to all my notebooks, pens, etc. Very cool.

I even started doing this, which I found out about last week on Bluesky. It's a cool idea, and a great way to actually start using more of the notebooks I mentioned above! Some of the prompts have resulted in some pretty wild ideas. 😅

Well, I might not have finished a short story this week, but I came close. I completed the third draft tonight and will tackle the final read-thru on Monday. It's already waiting on my Paperwhite. The word count is currently 3,313. Not bad.

So... if you popped in this week, you probably saw the cover art reveal the other day. My cozy fantasy novel will be released in November, but you can already check it out at Netgalley, on Goodreads, and it's available for pre-order. Awesome stuff.

I can't wait to hear what readers think. I love occult detectives, and Destiny is one of mine.

Well, that's about it. Hope you have an amazing weekend!

Cover Reveal!!

Today, Brigids Gate Press revealed the cover for my upcoming novel, FALLEN DESTINY, and it's beautiful.

Check it out:

I LOVE IT!

Alison Flannery made a work of art. Not to mention that she captured the main character, Destiny, perfectly!

Here's the synopsis:

Destiny isn't human and she has the horns to prove it. She's also damned good at blending into the human world.

That, along with her powers, has helped her forge a career out of locating supernatural beings and objects.

Got demon troubles? Need a mystical artifact found? Destiny's the one for the job.

All goes well for her until the day she's hired by a mysterious nun, and for the first time, Destiny's stumped.

How exactly does a demon hired by a nun find an angel?

The release date is:

November 11, 2025.

If you're on Netgalley, you can check it out HERE!

Cover Reveal!

The other day, Cemetery Gates Media revealed the cover for my debut short story collection, MELANCHOLY DELUSIONS, and I think it's time to post it here.

Take a look at this beauty:

 Isn't it AMAZING? I think it's fantastic!

This gorgeous piece of art captures the essence of my short story collection, which features different characters leading strange and dark lives. But all of them find themselves in weird/bizarre situations.

Luke Spooner/Carrion House did such an awesome job, and I can't stop looking at it!

Today, I finished the final proofread of the ARC and I loved spending time with these characters in their bleak and nightmarish worlds.

The release date is: January 28, 2025.

I can't wait for you to read my 17 dark and melancholy, horror short stories.

Have a great day!

Cover Reveal!

If you're on social media, then you've probably already seen this absolutely beautiful cover made by Ruth Anna Evans:

It's so bright and absolutely perfect because the imagery captures Chester's struggle in the book SO well.

Speaking of that, here's the story synopsis:

SHE DOESN'T LIVE IN A HAUNTED HOUSE.
THE MONSTER IS ALREADY INSIDE HER HEAD.

Chester is no stranger to hearing voices, but after her mother disappears without a trace, the demonic voice trying to consume her is getting stronger every day.

The threat of possession might be her biggest problem, but it's not her only one. Chester's confidence in the stepmother who is trying to keep her safe is now unstable. The safe and comfortable connection with her very supportive stepbrother is slowly becoming a tangled mess that threatens their strong bond.

When Chester stumbles on her mother's precious journal, she hopes to find some answers about what's happening to her. But what she really wants to uncover is how to find her missing mother. And the answer to that mystery might come from the most unexpected source. Herself.

NUMB will be released on September 30!

You can already pre-order a copy:

And yes, I named this book after a Linkin Park song because it totally fits Chester's story... Also, I named my main character after Chester Bennington.

Thanks for reading!

Cover Reveal & Pre-order!

That's right!

The cover for my upcoming gothic horror novella was revealed today by DarkLit Press.

Check it out:

Isn't it beautiful?
It was made by SaberCore Art Studio, who is an amazing artist.
Also, this cover fits the story perfectly. I absolutely LOVE it.

So, what's the story about?

Here's the synopsis:

When Thera inherits a house on the cliff from her estranged aunt, her husband suggests they spend a week on the coast to sort through her family's belongings. But Hector has ulterior motives and hopes she'll fall in love with this gothic location.

Instead, these newlyweds find themselves trapped inside a house concealing an ancient family secret that might tear them apart before they get the chance to start their lives together.

Thera is slowly changing into someone—or something—else, but is willing to do whatever it takes to stop the curse.

Drawing upon the atmospheric backdrop of a cliffside house, Sfetsos intricately weaves a tale where the line between passion and peril is razor-thin. The story captivates with its raw portrayal of transformation and the lengths one goes to save love amidst looming darkness.

And here are some amazing blurbs from three fantastic authors:

"These characters will dig their talons through muscle and bone to nest in your battered heart, tormenting you long after the story is done." Angela Sylvaine, author of Frost Bite

"For fans of THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE and THE CRANE HUSBAND, Sfetsos's book of sacrifice and torment will sure to haunt your mind." Ai Jiang, Nebula finalist and author of LINGHUN and I AM AI

"Inherited trauma, dark family secrets, and terrifying psychological themes blend beautifully together to leave you with an ending that satisfies and terrifies. Wendy Dalrymple, author of WHITE IBIS and ROSER PARK

YOU CAN PRE-ORDER WINGS OF SORROW RIGHT NOW!!

And don't forget that you can read the prequel short story right now HERE.

This is such exciting news! 😃🎉

WALL OF DOLLS has a cover!

Well, a new week is here and I hope you're all having a good one. 😊

Over the weekend, the awesome Sci-Fi & Scary blog featured the Cover and Synopsis Reveal for my upcoming YA horror novel, WALL OF DOLLS.

In case you missed it, I'm posting it here as well:

For generations, the women of the Lucas family have lived in the small town of Whenall, Massachusetts, at Raven House. They make dolls that they call wardens to protect the townsfolk, a long tradition that some might believe holds no power, but a tradition that Whenall enjoys all the same.

Quin is proud of her heritage, her cousin Beth, however, isn’t interested in her position as the future family matriarch. The girls spend their time with their two closest friends, Henri and Al, with Beth always taking the lead, flirting with the boys and leading them into mischief.

One Halloween night, Al finds a Ouija board in the attic of Raven House, and Beth eagerly encourages them all to play with it, but Quin knows that these boards are not a game. Something was unleashed that Halloween night, and a year later, the girls will face the consequences. Can Quin stop them from being devoured by the evil force that spoke to them that night? The force that haunts the woods surrounding Whenall? With Henri by her side, she is sure as hell going to try…

Well, what do you think? I love this cover because it's awesome and creepy and cute. Plus, it totally captures the essence of the story because these dollswardensare very important in the town of Whenall.

I'll post all other buy links as well as the official release date really soon. It'll be available just in time for Halloween, which is perfect because Quin's story happens around the spookiest and most fun time of the year.

Cover Talk

I love cover art. Checking out new covers, and trying to figure out clues about what's hidden inside, is one of the many things I love about books.

I've bought books purely based on their covers. So yeah, I'm a fan.

If it's for a story I've written, I love imagining what the cover might look like. I can't help but wonder what the artist might come up with. But nothing beats actually seeing what a cover artist comes up with for the first time. It's so exciting.

Today, I want to talk about this beauty:

This eerie cover was made by Adrian Baldwin and I love it.

One of the coolest things about the Short Sharp Shocks! series is that as soon as you see one, you know that it's part of the series.

Sure, they all have the cool and eye-catching crimson Demain Publishing border, but it's more than that. Every cover is pitch black, and features one element that fits perfectly with the story: a single image lost in all that darkness. Something that's somehow highly appropriate to each book.

I love the seemingly simplicity of these covers. At first glance, they appear so simple, but there are many unexpected layers. Whatever is featured on the cover is directly related to the story that follows, but the reader won't know exactly how it fits until they read the book.

Take my one. On the surface, BREAKING THE HABIT is a story about newlyweds eager to get their honeymoon started. It's also a tense and bloody, heartbreaking story about a woman with a dark secret and a past she's desperately trying to outrun. When I tried to picture the cover, I couldn't wait to see what the artist would come up with.

Then I saw the cabin/cottage and fell in love with it instantly. It's genius! The perfect image to provide a hint of the story without any spoilers. The place where BREAKING THE HABIT is actually set is the only possible image that could convey so much in such a spooky way.

The darkness surrounding the cabin/cottage is also perfect, because it reflects so much about the turmoil inside Isla's mind. As well as what's going on at this precise moment in her life.

See, so many clues are hidden in this awesome cover. Of course, I wrote the story so I see a lot more than the casual observer, but if you read the book you'll definitely understand what I'm talking about.

Hope you enjoyed my thoughts on Adrian's great cover. 😁

I have a new cover!

The other day I received the final cover for Elsewhere, Book 2 and it is AWESOME!

Take a look at this beauty:

Well, what do you think? It's cool, right? :)

Kanaxa has done it yet again! She made the Sierra Fox covers, and also the first cover for this series, so she always knows exactly what I'm looking for. Sometimes better than I do. LOL. She actually came up with the very cool concept of black and white kick-ass chick, and I think she's pulled it off again, perfectly!

I love how well she captured Willow's power with a bit of vibrant colour. Unlike Lavie and Sierra she doesn't really use weapons, and I love how this cover portrays that.

Check out how good the two books look together:

OMG. They're both awesome!

I haven't got the final blurb yet, but this just about sums it up:

Five years after the events of A Stitch on Time, Willow is all grown up and living in Wollongong. She's now a parapsychologist, and because she's a necromancer she can't get away from the odd poltergeist sighting. She might be far from Sierra's influence, but trouble still has a knack of following her around. And when she crosses paths with an old crush, life gets a lot more complicated...

Just like Lavie's story, this is a stand alone but you'll recognise a bunch of characters... especially the love interest. ;)

If you're interested in meeting Lavie, Willow, and all the other characters in this world, you can read Sierra's 5-book adventure. But it's not essential.

I have a new cover!

Hey!

I've been so caught up working on HELL OF A RIDE first round edits during the last few weeks, that I totally forgot I hadn't shared the awesome cover yet.

So... here it is:

What do you think?

I think it's kick-ass awesome.

Kanaxa has done it again! She made all of the Sierra Fox covers, so she knows what I'm looking for better than I do. Seriously, she came up with this exciting concept. It might be a spin-off book, but it stands on it's own. That's for sure.

I love Lavie's stance, and that she's holding her wicked machete. Not to mention her scars.

Like I said: Awesome!

This is one of those covers that I like more every time I see it. It's SO cool.

I haven't got the final blurb yet, but this is how I summarised Lavie's story previously:

This is a road trip story about a kick-ass demon hunter with a bunch of issues, a hunky demon with mischief on his mind, and a gorgeous red & black VW Kombi. Not to mention, a whole LOT of demonic trouble.

This might be Lavie and Saul's stand-alone story, but if you've read the Sierra Fox series, you'll recognise a bunch of people in it. ;)

If you're interested in finding out more about Lavie Grye before the release of her book, she's in every instalment of...

ICYMI: I have a new cover!

Yesterday, Smart Girls love SciFi posted this awesome cover:

Well, what do you think?

I absolutely love it.

Kanaxa has once again made an awesome cover that perfectly captures the feel of DASH. In case you're wondering, that's Walsh on the cover and he happens to be an AI/android.

If you've read CLASH, then you've already met him. ;)

 And here's the blurb:

She escaped the arena of death, but trusting him might be the death of her.

Recast, Book 4

Taylor may be the Clash Arena’s most dominant—and only—female gladiator, but today she just can’t catch a break. After winning yet another brutal fight, with the arena inexplicably falling down around her ears, she jumps at the chance to escape the prison of her subterranean pit.

Instead, she finds herself knocked unconscious more times than she can count, and pursued over the edge of a sea cliff by an AI enforcer she can’t shake off her heels.

Walsh has been living a double life, masquerading as a tyrant’s enforcer while hiding his true agenda. When the despicable arena falls, there’s only one thing on his mind—saving the savage blonde who doesn’t trust him as far as she can throw him. Which is a considerable distance.

Once he convinces her he’s not out to kill her but help her survive, they form an uneasy alliance. But Taylor senses he’s keeping a secret, not just from her, but about her. And the truth will show them exactly what it is to be human.

Warning: This book contains a kick-ass gladiator who takes no crap, an AI who puts it all on the line, a band of misfits who aren’t as merry as they seem, cute tadpoles with sharp teeth, and grip-you-by-the-hair kisses. Strap in, interstellar turbulence is a bitch.

DASH release date: May 26th 2015.

Are you ready? Yes?

Well, here it is...

What do you think?

I absolutely LOVE it.

I know I've said this before, and I'll probably say it again... Kanaxa totally nailed it. She captured everything perfectly. The mood, the intensity, the fiery atmosphere, and Sierra looks totally pissed off. Like I said, it's absolutely perfect!

I'm so giddy with excitement over this cover. :)

It's time to SHIVER...

First there was a space cowboy in Wither.
Then, a shapeshiter in Clash.
Now, there's an arena warrior with a bloodlust problem in Shiver...

Here's my gorgeous new cover:

Blood made him a monster. Passion could be his salvation.

Recast, Book 3

After narrowly escaping brutal captivity in the Clash Arena and the bite of a bloodsucking creature, all Eniell Knox wants is to get off the crappy planet that ruined his life. When he steals an abandoned ship and is shot down over freezing northern Fray, he finds nothing but more trouble. An alluring young woman who stirs his hunger—and her shackle-happy mother—could push him over the edge.

Day after day, Lian Shan lives like a prisoner, fending off a parade of creepy potential husbands her mother tries to force upon her. She longs to experience life outside the confines of her ice castle and meet the man whose face haunts her dreams.

When a handsome, mysterious man crashes onto the estate her world breaks apart, spilling unfathomable secrets. Some of them her own.

Though Eniell and Lian’s mutual attraction explodes off any known star chart, there’s something her dreams left out—he’s been bitten by a monster. Which means if he turns into one, the first thing on his menu could be her neck…

Warning: This book contains shared temptation hot enough to melt ice caps, a warrior with a blood craving, a rebellious heroine who isn’t afraid to share hers, and the galaxy’s most dysfunctional family.

Well, what do you think? Kanaxa did an awesome job, right? I love it!

On Pins and Needles has a blurb!

On Saturday, I posted the gorgeous cover for Sierra Fox, Book 3. I absolutely love it! So, I'm going to post it again. But this time, I'm adding the blurb...

All it takes is one freak to turn everything into a demonic ritual.

Sierra Fox, Book 3

Sierra Fox’s relationship with sexy werewolf Jason Papan is going great, but it doesn’t take a psychic to tell her someone’s out to get her. As usual, though, there’s too much else going on to worry about just another assassination attempt.

In addition to the demon-possessed freaks that still want her, a whole new bucket of trouble has been dumped in her path. The half-sister Sierra never knew she had isn’t a typical teenager. Willow comes with supernatural baggage that grows heavier every time someone close to her dies. And the load gets bigger every time the police find the body of another young girl.

Now Sierra’s not only dealing with the target on her own back, but the one that a power-hungry woman has painted on her poltergeist-magnet sister. As she finds herself drawn into the thick of a murder investigation, Sierra must face her deepest fears and embrace the darkest of her powers to overcome the looming threat. Or the prediction of her death might just come true.

Warning: Spook catching: never gets any easier, neither does trying to avoid being killed by a shadowy organization. Always expect the unexpected—dangerous vampires, poltergeists and demon-obsessed freaks. At least the werewolf is pleasurably safe.

ON PINS AND NEEDLES WILL BE RELEASED JUNE 2013.

I also found two reviews this morning...

"A Patch of Darkness is an excellent mixture of darkness, suspense, paranormal, passion and friendship – a great combination."
Jo, Joyfully Reviewed

"Split at the Seams has sexy areas, action areas and fun areas while being surrounded in suspense filled plot that will keep you wondering until the final answers are revealed."
Jo, Joyfully Reviewed

Both of these reviews made me smile, so thanks Jo! :) It makes me really happy when a reader totally gets Sierra and the world she lives in.

Well, have a great day! I know mine is going to be filled with Sierra Fox thoughts...

Sierra Fox #2: (Awesome) cover and (Spoilery) Blurb:

All it takes is one broken stitch for everything to come apart at the seams.

Sierra Fox, Book 2

Spook catcher Sierra Fox has paid her debt to the Spook Catcher Council. Life should be easier. Except everything is going to the dogs—or demons, as the case may be. Her boyfriend Jonathan is acting like a possessive jerk. She can’t stop drooling over Jason, her hunky, injured houseguest, who turns out to be a werewolf. To top it off, something seriously freaky is happening to spooks all over Sydney.

Prime example: a ghost who wants to hire her fades while inside her office, and soon they’re disappearing all over Sydney— sucked out of existence. When Sierra finds out who’s behind it, it’s more than just her own life at stake.

As the problems continue to mount, keeping her head above water is a daily battle. Add a stalking, feral animal who is determined to take a piece out of her hide—literally—and life is anything but a bunch of buttercups. Especially when those around her start dropping their façades.

Eventually, she knows, the dust will settle. Only this time, life as she knew it may never be the same.

Warning: Spook catching: Do not try this at home, if you’re under eighteen, or under the influence. Must be prepared to fight off ghosts, demons, weird black dogs and sexy werewolves… Okay, maybe not the werewolf.

Well, what do you think? Isn't it absolutely stunning? I love it. Kanaxa captured the feel of this book very well. And I love Sierra, she looks so kick-ass on this cover. ;)

And here's what they look like together:

Lovely!
