My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I have to start this review with a huge Wow. This book is amazing. And so addictive. I couldn't put it down.
My daughter actually read this before I did and kept telling me how good it was. Well, she wasn't wrong.
The funny thing is that I hadn't even planned to read it now. But last night while going through my Kindle books I decided to check it out... and before I realised it I was already on 8%. So first thing this morning I went back to it and just finished. I was hooked and couldn't wait to get to The End.
This is the story of the Sinclair family, who enjoy spending summers together on a private island. It's also a story of first love. And about the close ties of friendship. There's also a good dose of suspense, a pinch of greed, kids wanting to change the world, and a terrible tragedy.
And when it all comes together, there's a lot of sadness.
That's all I'm going to say about it because I don't want to give anything away. All you really need to know is that this is a brilliant book. I loved how it was written, the story, the lies, the messy familial ties... all of it!
