THE MARTIAN by Andy Weir (DNF)

Okay. It's time to let this book go. I've been stalling for weeks, determined to put it aside for a while before returning to finish.

But I just can't do it...

I don't know what happened to me while I was reading this on my Kindle, but I can tell you that it's my first DNF for 2015.

I'd heard great things about this story, and because it's about Mars, I grabbed a copy and got started. Mark Watney gets stranded on Mars because his team assumed he died after a violent storm. Turns out he survived. Mark is actually quite the survivor and does everything within his power to stay alive.

The story started out interesting. I was intrigued and wanted to find out what was going to happen next. I didn't even mind the overabundance of tech talk and scientific explanations.

Well, I didn't at first...

After reaching 40% of this, it started to weigh on my nerves. Suddenly, Mark was more of a pain than a charming survivor determined to live another day. o_O And the other POVs, ugh.

Not working for me.

I started falling asleep every time I got back into it. Just kept putting it off for weeks. And skimming. Boy, was I skimming! I even tried to get back into it this morning.

Nope. Can't do it.

So, I'm putting it aside and calling it a DNF because of the sheer boredom I felt during the last half of this book.

I've since found out that Matt Damon is going to star in the movie. Which to me means snorefest. Don't like Damon, and attaching him to this story...

*yawn*
