THE IRON KING by Julie Kagawa

MEGHAN CHASE HAS A SECRET DESTINY -
ONE SHE COULD NEVER HAVE IMAGINED...

Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school... or at home.

When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her. Meghan sensed that everything she's known is about to change.

But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she's go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face...and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.

I grabbed this book next because I found out the fourth book in the series is coming out next month. So, before buying it, I wanted to make sure I enjoyed the first book. (I already have book 2 and 3 on my bookshelf.) And, wow!

Meghan Chase has always felt a little different. She doesn't quite fit in at school, and her stepfather seems to constantly forget she's even there. But when her half-brother is taken and replaced with a violent changeling, her eyes are opened to a new world she never thought existed. All of a sudden, she finds out that her best friend Robbie also happens to be from that world, and in order to get her brother back, she'll have to venture into Nevernever to find him. But the Fey are cruel, complicated creatures with trickery and deals waiting at every turn...

I absolutely loved this book! It was amazing. I was hooked! This world of the Fey is vivid, intricate and dangerous, with a great combination of scary and intriguing creatures.  I can't wait to visit again. Actually, I can't wait to get stuck into the next book to see what happens to Meghan next...
