Last month we found a paperback copy of this lovely book in K-Mart, and even though I already had it on my Paperwhite, we picked it up because the cover is gorgeous.
Inana lives in a world where it's illegal to be creative even by accident. Any sort of artistic expression invites the shadow monsters out of the dark, and that's before considering the Sinless, the Shadowbane or the Incarnate...
Mysterious. Intriguing. Monstrous. Amazing.
I enjoyed this romantasy SO much! It hooked me in from the very beginning. The world of the Sinless might be dangerous and full of temptation with wickedness at every turn, but it's also enticing and exciting.
Both Inana and Dominic are interesting characters. She's stubborn and talented. He's ambitious and secretive. Together, their separate voices and unique POVs weave an intoxicating tale that kept me glued to the pages. I couldn't get enough!
The other awesome thing about this story is that it's steeped in secrets that are slowly revealed, and the worldbuilding is fascinating. I'm a sucker for vampires, and I found this unique twist engrossing because it includes so many other cool concepts as well. The way the author weaves the seven deadly sins into the tapestry of this tale is fascinating.
I absolutely loved this book. And the twist at the end is so satisfying that when I finished, everything that led to the shocking conclusion came crashing down on me. The way things end made all the twists and turns make so much sense. In a very devious and clever way.
This is supposed to be a trilogy, so I'm looking forward to finding out what's next for Inana and Dominic.
