The guest blog post that was never posted!

Earlier this year, I had a new release called Alex Wales: PROMISE. It's an SFR with a little magic, a good dose of sensuality, and an edge of darkness. I had a blast writing it, and did several promo spots when it was released by Eternal Press. It was fun.

Except, there was one blog post I wrote that didn't get posted. I have no idea why, and even after enquiring about it, I didn't get a response. Since 2011 is winding down, I thought it would be cool to post it here, on my own blog.

So, here it is... The guest blog post that was never posted:

Will They, or Won't They?

One of the things (because there are many) that I loved about the original Star Wars Trilogy was the romance subplot between Leia and Han. Their attraction was obvious pretty early on, as well as their constant denial of that attraction, which leads to the inevitable.

Shows like Firefly, Cowboy Bebop, and Outlaw Star (to name a few) toy with this concept too. You know what I mean, right? Two people that are obviously meant for each other but keep toeing the line between admitting how they feel, and not throwing themselves into a relationship because the odds seem stacked against them... It always hooks me in.

So, when I was brainstorming this Sci-Fi idea of mine, I instantly gravitated towards the will they or won't they? scenario. Of course, my characters don't shy away from physical involvement. It's the emotional entanglement that gets to them. :)

Meet Alex Wales: spaceship owner, space courier, independent woman... and commitment-phobe. She knows how to take care of herself, but tries to stay away from emotional commitments as much as she can. Actually, she doesn't even like to stay in one place for too long. The only thing she does have any sort of commitment to is her ship, Promise. So it's no surprise that when a particularly clingy situation arises, she tries to get as far away from it as possible. Except, she didn't expect to crash into an unchartered planet.

Enter Damon: gorgeous, mysterious, kind, hardworking... and he uses magic. He's only ever known the planet of Eden, but when he runs into Alex, his whole world changes and he starts to question everything around him.

The connection between Alex and Damon is instant and mutual, but it doesn't stop Alex from trying to deny it, or falling back on her no-strings-attached policy.

I knew pretty early on that Alex and Damon's story would have many ups and downs. I also knew it would span the length of a quartet. They will face many truths together, dangers, surprises, and discover some pretty awesome things about each other, too. While being tempted, interrupted, and torn apart by their pasts. But through it all, they will still have one another. It might take them a while to get there, but Alex and Damon's story will ultimately answer the question: will they, or won't they... fall in love

What about you? Do you enjoy reading books and/or watching movies/shows with characters that are obviously meant for each other, but take a while to get there?

Thanks for reading!
